The Ladykillers Story

Ladykillers came together in late 1998 as a one-off gig to feature local female rock singers. Ria, who organised the event, phoned around for a band, and originally involved four other female singers as well as herself to each be featured on 4 or 5 songs. The original line-up included keyboards and 2 guitars, but one of the singers cancelled 2 days before the gig, taking the keyboard player with her, and the second guitarist wasn't blending very well, so Ladykillers was left with bass, drums, guitar and 4 vocalists. Even under these circumstances the gig was a great success and it was understood that there should be a second performance.

From these strained beginnings grew Ladykillers, changing and growing the set, adding dances, and developing a sound of their own. Of the original line-up only the bass player Richard, and 2 singers: Doz and Ria, remained up until June 2002, when they decided to split into 2 separate bands.

Richard on bass and drummer Gareth have formed a new band with a male singer called '668'. If you wish to know more about them please e-mail info@ladykillers.freeserve.co.uk. with a contact number & we will pass it on.

TheLadykillers' set, a mixture of rock and soul, had evolved through the band's diverse musical tastes, which has culminated in a unique ballsy sound on old and new tracks alike, and from the intense gigging over the years all members have grown in experience and have learned how to really entertain an audience.

Though Ladykillers have been in great demand with Clubs and pubs around the country, as well as private functions, the time has come for a change. As well as the boys' new band, Ladybirds are still performing as a Duo (Doz and Ria), Ria will be performing solo, and Doz is joining a new band called 'The Bet Lynch Experience' (more details under 'DOZ' or go to www.thebetlynchexperience.com).
